Frequently Asked Questions re. Jazzy Clipz 2

clip65

blckteksProblem 1 : "The Quick Start - Installation directions say select Setup.exe in either CD Directory X:\Jazzy31 or Jazzy95, but  which folder should I choose? Confusing!

Solution : Yes, this is unclear. Jazzy31 corresponds to WIN31 and Jazzy95 corresponds to WIN95/98/ 2000 /NT operating systems. In other words, if you are running WIN95, WIN98 or WIN 2000, choose
Jazzy95 to run Setup.exe.

Problem 2: "Everytime I try to copy a thumbnail, I get a message saying insert the volume: <jazzy clipz 2> and select the drive from the list."

Solution : After you launch the the Jazzy Clipz Catalogue & Viewer, the Thumbs interface comes up. When you look at the the left hand side of the screen, you will see the directory structure of your system. At the bottom, there are different kinds of icons. To learn what they signify, open the ThumbsCD help file in the Program Group. Click on "Navigating", then hit the "Display button. Then click on "Disk, Volume and Folder Icons". The icon types will be display along with explanation of what they represent.

To continue, you've got the Thumbs interface open. At the bottom, you will see a "disc"-like icon and it will have the label, "jazzyclipz2" beside it. This is only an "off-line" representation of the fact that thumbnails exist on a cd-rom volume. And as you double-click down thru this directory structure you will eventually see icons. Now when you try double-clicking on one of these, you get a dialogue box on the screen asking you to choose the CD-ROM drive letter assigned to your cd-rom drive. Stop here. Cancel this dialogue as you need not go any further with this. The circluar icon is not the right icon for accessing our cd-rom.

Re-examine the icons on the left side of your Thumbs screen and you will recognize that there is a rectangular icon with a cd-rom poking out of the front of it. This is your cd-rom drive. Double-click on this icon and you will eventually see a folder labeled "Jazzy2" and then other folder icons below until you see the thumbnails. Now when you double-click one of these thumbnails, you will see the enlarged image. Enlarged or not, you can copy this image anytime. Don't bother with that other cd-rom ("disc"-like) icon at the botton of the directory structure I first talked about. It doesn't link with our cd-rom, only the thumbnails file which resides on your hard drive. This should solve your problem.

Problem 3: "After I have installed the Jazzy Clipz Thumbs Catalog, I canīt see the filename extensions. How do I get the file type extensions to show up with thumbnail file names?"

Solution: Upon opening ThumbsPlusCD graphics viewer, you may notice that the file extensions (e.g., WMF, BMP, JPG or EPS) of the thumbnail image filenames do not display. This occurs, most likely, because of a Windows system setting which enables WIN 95 to "Hide MS-DOS file extensions for file types which are registered."  To remedy this situation, return to the desktop and click on "My Computer" icon. Then click on the menu bar item "View/Options". Within the "Options" window click on the tab, "View". Within the View window make sure the box which is labeled with the line, "Hide MS-DOS." is unchecked.

Problem 4: "I can't seem to import, place or open my Kuba Border Art EPS files within my application software package."

The table below identifies application software packages that are compatible or incompatible with Okara's Kuba Border Art forms which
have been released in EPS file format. Where necessary, within Jazzy
Clipz 2's thumbnail catalogue, one can save the EPS files as WMF (windows metafiles). In general, the following software packages will
accept EPS or WMF Kuba border art forms unless noted otherwise.

Caveat: These results are based strictly on these applications' ability to open, import or place Okara Kuba Border EPS, AI or WMF files
only. No conclusions may be drawn insofar as other EPS, AI or WMF files (of more recent vintage) are concerned.

Problem 5 : "I canīt seem to find the Thumbs+Shareware (16/32 bit versions) mentioned in the Quick Start - Installation instructions and readme file."

Solution: Yes, we forgot to include an icon in the Okara 2 (for Win 95/98) or Okara231 (for Win 3.1) program folders for installing the Thumbs+ Shareware files. However, the files were installed just the same, and are located within the Okara2 and Okara231 folders. If you have Win 95/98 machine, you should run the shareware file, Thmpls32.exe located in Okara2 folder. If you are using Win 3.1, then you should run Thmpls.exe which is found in the directory folder of Okara231\Win31. After trying the shareware version of Thumbs+, we strongly urge you to register your shareware with Cerious Software to insure you have the latest versions, etc. This software will become indispensible to you for all of your computer graphic files other than the Okara collection.
